Mark is Managing Director (UK) and Senior Vice President (International) of g8wave Ltd, a leading mobile phone consultancy and service provider for world media http://www.g8wave.co.uk The company have operational offices based out of Europe (London) and North America (HQ’d in Boston).
At g8wave, he advises newspapers across the globe on mobile strategies and in recent times, has spoken at or run newspaper mobile conferences in the Egypt, Switzerland, USA, Brazil, India and Malaysia, whilst also completing a project in Australia, installing a mobile culture into the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper.
His media clients have ranged from The Evening Standard in London to The Times of India in Delhi. He is also European Director for the International Newsmedia Marketing Association (http://www.INMA.org) a trade association for newsmedia professionals around the globe, which highlights media trends, ideas and case studies around the industry.
In this respect, he is the current holder of Europe’s major honour, that of it’s Golden Tie (knot) Award for 2008.
This is an annual award given to the individual in newsmedia who has given outstanding contribution to the industry.
Mark's background is firmly rooted in newspapers having been Marketing Director for the Liverpool Echo, in Liverpool, England (his home town), Promotions Director at Mirror Group (The Daily Mirror) and also at Associated Newspapers (Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday, Evening Standard and Metro).
The Daily Mirror and The Daily Mail are two of the biggest paid-for circulation newspapers in the world today. He was the first person in the newspaper industry to introduce the “free CD/DVD” concept and the pioneer of newspaper fantasy sports promotions. Mark also represents the UK newspaper industry on the Advertising Standards Authority’s Code of Advertising Practice (CAP) board.
In that capacity, he has industry responsibilities for media advertising fitting with the body’s ethos of being legal, honest, decent and truthful.
He is also past-president of The UK’s body for the marketing profession, The Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Socially, Mark’s interests centre around the famous Liverpool Football Club, where he has had a season ticket at the team’s stadium, in the same exact seat for nearly 30 years!
